R-71 Campaign Rolling, Gaining Momentum!

June 11, Thursday, 2009 - Having personally logged over 1500 driving miles in the past five days delivering R-71 petitions by the tens of thousands to numerous drop point locations around the state, I am proud to report that the Protect Marriage Washington R-71 signature gathering campaign is rolling and gaining momentum by the day! 
 
Over  50,000 petitions delivered around the state so far! 

Protect Marriage Washington accepted the challenge of the homosexual activists and reported for duty to defend family values when we filed Referendum 71 last month. But we cannot win this battle if we outrun our supply lines!
 
We have incurred substantial costs in printing and distributing the R-71 petition (which may contain the largest amount of text of any initiative or referendum ever filed in Washington!). The campaign will focus effort in the coming weeks on the relentless pursuit of gathering 120,577 valid signatures by July 25.

Mission

The mission of the new PAC is to organize the effort to gather the 120,577 required signatures for Referendum 71 by July 25, 2009 to bring the controversial Senate Bill 5688 before the voters of Washington State in November. SB 5688 is a 110 page document which includes the phrase "marriage shall apply equally to state registered domestic partnerships" 180 times.

 

SB 5688 was packaged and presented to the legislature as a Domestic Partnerships expansion of benefits. In truth, it will demolish the state's historical understanding and definition of marriage as that of uniting a man and a woman for life as Washington State will immediately become subject to litigation by same-sex partners demanding that the courts overturn the Defense of Marriage Act and impose "same-sex marriage" (as happened recently in California prior to Proposition 8).
