BIG WEEKEND DRIVE FOR R-71!

With time running short, we need a big effort over the weekend and early next week in the few days remaining prior to the R-71 mailing deadline on July 22.

Stopping same-sex marriage is a battle that we can win!

As Maggie Gallagher of the National Organization of Marriage recently told the press: "Three recent polls (Pew, Gallup and CBS News/NYT) confirm that a strong majority of Americans continue to oppose gay marriage, despite the recent push for gay marriage in Iowa and the northeast. Strong majorities of Republicans and independents oppose gay marriage according to the latest Pew poll. Even 41 percent of Democrats oppose gay marriage".

It has truly been an awesome and humbling experience to see so many people across the state working together again to defend our culture!

The work that takes place over this final weekend and the next few days prior to July 22 may very well make the difference in qualifying R-71 for the ballot in November.

Mission

The mission of the new PAC is to organize the effort to gather the 120,577 required signatures for Referendum 71 by July 25, 2009 to bring the controversial Senate Bill 5688 before the voters of Washington State in November. SB 5688 is a 110 page document which includes the phrase "marriage shall apply equally to state registered domestic partnerships" 180 times.

SB 5688 was packaged and presented to the legislature as a Domestic Partnerships expansion of benefits. In truth, it will demolish the state's historical understanding and definition of marriage as that of uniting a man and a woman for life as Washington State will immediately become subject to litigation by same-sex partners demanding that the courts overturn the Defense of Marriage Act and impose "same-sex marriage" (as happened recently in California prior to Proposition 8).
