49 days to defend marriage!

We are set to begin our statewide literature and yard sign distribution efforts early next week and we have ordered batch one of the really terrific Reject SB 5688/R-71 campaign flyers and yard signs and bumper stickers which the campaign will pick up this weekend. Again, we will need hundreds of volunteers to disseminate these materials in your communities and churches and home precincts.

CAMPAIGN MATERIALS READY TO GO OUT NEXT WEEK!

Please let us know right away if you are interested in a yard sign, a bumper sticker, and/or helping distribute campaign literature.

On Friday if this week, we will have to come up with the money to pay for the materials mentioned above. As of today, we have raised about one half of what we need to pay for batch one and that does not include the cost of mailing packages around the state.

My friends, If we are going to affect the vote in the November election, we are going to have to really dig deep into our wallets to fund this effort. I don't want to sound like a broken record, but we have to pay now to defend our values, or pay much more in the future to undo the damage!

Please give as generously as possible today to Protect Marriage Washington. Can you give a gift of $20 dollars or more today? We have only 49 days until election day on November 3rd!  Time is short, let's make the most it and get the word out to Reject SB 5688/r-71 in November!

PS. A very good editorial "Let voters, not attorneys, decide Referendum 71" appeared in Monday's edition of The Olympian.

Mission

The mission of the new PAC is to organize the effort to gather the 120,577 required signatures for Referendum 71 by July 25, 2009 to bring the controversial Senate Bill 5688 before the voters of Washington State in November. SB 5688 is a 110 page document which includes the phrase "marriage shall apply equally to state registered domestic partnerships" 180 times.

SB 5688 was packaged and presented to the legislature as a Domestic Partnerships expansion of benefits. In truth, it will demolish the state's historical understanding and definition of marriage as that of uniting a man and a woman for life as Washington State will immediately become subject to litigation by same-sex partners demanding that the courts overturn the Defense of Marriage Act and impose "same-sex marriage" (as happened recently in California prior to Proposition 8).
