FOUR R-71 RALLIES ON SATURDAY, OCTOBER 17! SOUTHCENTER, SPOKANE, GIG HARBOR

Southcenter Mall Rally (Tukwila, WA)


DATE:  October 17, 2009
TIME: 11:00am - 2:00pm
PLACE:  Sidewalk areas around the perimeter of the Southcenter Mall in Tukwila.
SIGNS: Make your own REJECT R-71 sign, or pick one up from Matt on Saturday at the northwest corner of the Office Depot parking lot (300 Andover Parkway W, Tukwila, WA )

Please note: The Southcenter Mall is an extremely high traffic area and all Rally participants must be very careful to not obstruct the traffic flow in the streets or of customers going in and out of the many restaurants and businesses. We need to be courteous to all pedestrians as we will be sharing the sidewalks with them on Saturday. It is extremely important that participants be well mannered and do everything possible to avoid conflict at the Rally, even if provoked.  Contact Alex 425-344-1875 for more information.

Spokane Rally
DATE: Saturday, October 17, 2009
TIME: Pre-rally sign-waving starts at 2:30pm - 4:00pm. Meet near church parking lot. It is a short walk to hwy 395.

RALLY BEGINS AT 4:00PM
PLACE:  CALVARY CHAPEL, 511 W. HASTINGS RD.
SPECIAL GUEST SPEAKERS: REP. MATT SHEA, GARY RANDALL, FAITH & FREEDOM NETWORK, LARRY STICKNEY, PROTECT MARRIAGE WASHINGTON

Sign-Waving:  Anyone who would like to participate in sign-waving can make their own creative sign, or the REJECT SB-5688 campaign signs will be available.  Homemade signs get LOTS OF ATTENTION.  Kids love to help make signs!  Avoid negative comments:  the  focus is REJECT SB-5688, PRESERVE MARRIAGE, PROTECT CHILDREN.  At 2:30pm we will meet in the Old Fairwood Shopping Center parking lot near the church and WALK with our signs  to Highway 395.  That is a very busy road and intersection.  We will then walk back to Calvary Chapel in time for the 4:00pm Rally.

Special instructions: We want to take great care to be good representatives in this matter:  clothes that do not distract from our message; respectful speech and behavior.  We will take our time and walk slow and in single file when needed as to not cause a traffic disturbance.  All ages and groups are invited, including children with proper adult supervision. Have fun!  Sing, talk, pray, meet new folks!

 

Gig Harbor Rally
DATE: Saturday, October 17, 2009
TIME:  10:00am
PLACE: Burnham Drive Exit off HWY 16 (On the hill leading to "Harbor Hill") . We will park at the S.E. corner of the Target parking lot (opposite corner from Starbucks) and walk out to the main road.

Signs will be provided... but please feel free to make some of your own.  Suggestions: "On R-71 REJECT SB5688;  "Preserve Marriage";"Protect Children".
Special instructions: Please avoid negative comments. HAVE FUN! All ages and groups are invited.  See you in Gig Harbor!

 

Vancouver Rally
Date: Saturday, October 17, 2009

Mission

The mission of the new PAC is to organize the effort to gather the 120,577 required signatures for Referendum 71 by July 25, 2009 to bring the controversial Senate Bill 5688 before the voters of Washington State in November. SB 5688 is a 110 page document which includes the phrase "marriage shall apply equally to state registered domestic partnerships" 180 times.

 

SB 5688 was packaged and presented to the legislature as a Domestic Partnerships expansion of benefits. In truth, it will demolish the state's historical understanding and definition of marriage as that of uniting a man and a woman for life as Washington State will immediately become subject to litigation by same-sex partners demanding that the courts overturn the Defense of Marriage Act and impose "same-sex marriage" (as happened recently in California prior to Proposition 8).
